Read an Excerpt of The Wraith

My latest novel - The Wraith - is coming July 9 in both print & Kindle editions. It's a companion story to my bestselling The Man From Taured. It's also set in my fictional town of Knorr, PA. The men from IDEA are back, first introduced in TMFT. The Wraith tells two parallel stories. One, about a man during WWII who discovers a portal into a new realm which seems to allow for teleportation of men and materials. The second story is set in modern times and tells the story of Kn

    What is the Mandela Effect?

    What is the Mandela Effect?

Quick, answer from your heart and not from your brain. Did South African civil rights leader, Nelson Mandela die while in prison during the late 70s or did he get out of jail in the 90s and eventually become the President of South Africa and die in his old age decades later? As for me, I distinctly remember the day, when I was in college, watching Mandela released from jail. My friends and I watched this event happen on CNN and were amazed. It seemed like it would never happe

Why writing short stories is important

My latest book, When the Night Comes Out, coming out close to Halloween 2018, is a collection of short stories. The stories themselves were all published on their own and are still available for about 99 cents a piece and just available for Kindle. For some people, the question I sometimes get asked is, with all of the novels and the fact I am fairly quick at cranking out books, why bother with short stories at all. So, I thought I'd go through some of the things I love about

Review of S.P.I.D.A.R. at Reads & Reels

Not a big post here, just trying to share things with the people who stop by and check out my blog, but the great folks over at the blog Reads & Reels gave me a great review of S.P.I.D.A.R. on the site this week. I really want to thank them, spread the word, and hopefully drive a little traffic to them. They deserve it and I appreciate it. New Audiobook Thriller! After the Snowfall

I am very proud to say that a new audiobook of one of my favorite books I have written is now out. My thriller book After the Snowfall is now available as an audiobook and read by the amazing Scott Servheen who has been just the most amazing voice talent to work with. I am so excited to bring this one to you. This is a book that has a truly special place in my heart. I wrote this book as my book for the one and only time I participated in NaNoWriMo. I wrote this book within 2

Enjoy the Silence: A review of 'A Quiet Place'

Possible SPOILERS ahead: This is just a review of the terrifying new horror movie A Quiet Place, and I will try not to give too much away. However, if you are one of those oddballs who prefers to know nothing about a movie before you see it - stop now and come back later. 'Kay? Have you ever really sat in silence during a movie? I mean, really, really, total and utter silence. You may think you have, but until you see the new movie A Quiet Place, you have not actually sat the

Why the horror of "Jaws" still works on me (part two: the novel)

SPOILERS AHEAD - if you haven't read the novel... Peter Benchley was a writer trying to make a living off of his art for years. He had an agent and that agent was able to get in touch with a publisher and present a number of ideas Benchley had indicated he thought would make good books. One of them was about his obsession when it came to sharks. He had spent much of his youth obsessed with learning all about sharks and things related to the sea. The publisher assumed he was a

    Reminder: Audiobooks and reviews

Just a quick update folks! I am busy working on a freelance gig and the third Elementals novel - as well as trying to promote my new novel S.P.I.D.A.R. That one is available as an ebook, in print and audiobook version. So, you can get S.P.I.D.A.R. as an audiobook as Audible, but I also have seven other works there available for you to listen to from a variety of voice talents. They were all amazing to work with and if you just never have the time to read, listening to a book

    The journey to S.P.I.D.A.R.

One of the questions I as an author get asked a lot is - where do you get your story ideas? I have talked about my latest horror book S.P.I.D.A.R. and how it came to be, but there are some deeper things that happened along the way. I mean, spiders are scary all on their own, but why create a bunch of fictional half-robot/half-spider creatures that do the horrifying things they do to people like in this story? I have personally been afraid of spider for a long time. However, i

    Spider Facts: the Black Widow

There are few spiders in the world with a more fearsome, and undeserved, reputation than the black widow spider. They are just the epitome of "evil" to a lot of people. They are a shiny black with the bright red hourglass markings. They are notorious for being deadly poisonous and for eating their mates - giving rise to the idea of wives who kill their husbands being labeled "black widows." There was even a movie out in the 80s with that as a title about a vicious woman who d

Spider Facts: the Brown Recluse Spider

For the most part, we are pretty lucky here in North America when it comes to spiders. If you live in Central or South America or some of the warmer or more tropical climates (or Australia - so many deadly things live there it's almost unfair) you may have poisonous spiders, ants, centipedes or giant spiders or other insects. However, in the U.S. and North America there are few spiders to fear - but there are a couple. One of the most infamous is the Brown Recluse Spider The

Help be get published and vote for The Revisionists

I have just finished the first draft of my first technothriller, called The Revisionists. While I have sent it to Beta Readers and the novel needs editing, it turns out there is a site known as Inkitt where you can submit your first draft and if people vote for it because they like it - a writer like myself can win a publishing contract. So - ever wanted to read the raw first draft of one of my novels? Totally FREE and online! It is free to read and free to vote, you just hav

Eight Legs of Terror Comes Feb. 23!

Hello there! So, I finally got word back from the publisher about when my terrifying new novel, S.P.I.D.A.R., will be coming out. Originally, I had been told the novel would be coming out in all formats on January 8, but that didn't happen. I am guessing it had to do with the audiobook. Having produced a few audiobooks, I can tell you, it's always the audiobook. I have been told that the new target date is Friday, February 23, 2018. That is the day a new definition of terror

Word of mouth: How you can help me with Storyland

The fact is that the publishing world has changed. You can debate until the end of time if it's changed for the better or worse. I think it's changed for the better. I like the vast expanse of authors and works of fiction that I might not have had access to in the pre-Kindle world. I can go on and on about how I was there trying to push the idea of self-publishing before there was a Kindle, but even I can't inflate my ego that large. People have been self-publishing for centu
