The Wraith - Blog Tour - Hosts needed!

So, I’m going out on a book tour this August for my horror novel The Wraith. Of course, being that I’m shy and don’t want to be seen in public, this is another virtual tour. I love doing virtual tours because I get to visit a lot of places, get in front of a bunch of people and I don’t have to travel (I am afraid of flying) and not dress up or anything. Great, so I am going on tour, but I need tour stops! I am once again teaming with the fine folks at Silver Dagger Tours who

Read an Excerpt of The Wraith

My latest novel - The Wraith - is coming July 9 in both print & Kindle editions. It's a companion story to my bestselling The Man From Taured. It's also set in my fictional town of Knorr, PA. The men from IDEA are back, first introduced in TMFT. The Wraith tells two parallel stories. One, about a man during WWII who discovers a portal into a new realm which seems to allow for teleportation of men and materials. The second story is set in modern times and tells the story of Kn

The "real" story of The Man From Taured

The world of urban legend is one of the areas of the internet and the world prefer to live in. I love watching videos about UFOs and weird, mysterious things. I collect strange, mysterious stories like the Mad Gasser of Mattoon and other stories. One of my favorites, of course, is the supposedly true tale of The Man From Taured. Of course, I say "true" but the fact remains this story is just urban legend. Although people who like the idea of alternate dimensions love to cite

Why writing short stories is important

My latest book, When the Night Comes Out, coming out close to Halloween 2018, is a collection of short stories. The stories themselves were all published on their own and are still available for about 99 cents a piece and just available for Kindle. For some people, the question I sometimes get asked is, with all of the novels and the fact I am fairly quick at cranking out books, why bother with short stories at all. So, I thought I'd go through some of the things I love about

What Every Author Needs to Know About SEO - Out Now!

Over the years I have gotten to know a lot of indie authors who are like me. They either self-publish their books or work with publishers that are small presses. What this means for authors is that they have to do a lot, if not all, of the marketing themselves. When I have asked them what they have found to be most effective in terms of marketing I get told: 1. Email marketing - every author tells me that cultivating an email list and sending out a regular newsletter is the b

Enjoy the Silence: A review of 'A Quiet Place'

Possible SPOILERS ahead: This is just a review of the terrifying new horror movie A Quiet Place, and I will try not to give too much away. However, if you are one of those oddballs who prefers to know nothing about a movie before you see it - stop now and come back later. 'Kay? Have you ever really sat in silence during a movie? I mean, really, really, total and utter silence. You may think you have, but until you see the new movie A Quiet Place, you have not actually sat the

Why the horror of "Jaws" still works on me (part three: the movie)

SPOILERS: I cannot believe I have to write this about a movie that came out in the 70s, but if you haven't seen the movie Jaws (what is your problem?) then there are spoilers ahead. Like, big ones. The movie rights to the novel Jaws were sold very quickly. The publishers knew they had a hit on their hands even before it shot up the bestseller list. The question was, who the heck was going to direct it? How would it be filmed? Also, how did you translate this novel that had so

Interview about the Chesterton plane crash

I love random interviews about my books. The latest one is now live and is about the Chesterton, Indiana, plane crash of 1933. It was an act of what we would today call terrorism, but was just called sabotage back then. You can read the interview HERE. I am particularly fond of this one because the author Matt Werner also interviewed some other experts and they contributed alternative theories. I love having that kind of debate and it is well presented here in the article. I

Why the horror of "Jaws" still works on me (part two: the novel)

SPOILERS AHEAD - if you haven't read the novel... Peter Benchley was a writer trying to make a living off of his art for years. He had an agent and that agent was able to get in touch with a publisher and present a number of ideas Benchley had indicated he thought would make good books. One of them was about his obsession when it came to sharks. He had spent much of his youth obsessed with learning all about sharks and things related to the sea. The publisher assumed he was a

Help be get published and vote for The Revisionists

I have just finished the first draft of my first technothriller, called The Revisionists. So - ever wanted to read the raw first draft of one of my novels? Totally FREE and online! It is free to read and free to vote, you just hav

Eight Legs of Terror Comes Feb. 23!

Hello there! So, I finally got word back from the publisher about when my terrifying new novel, S.P.I.D.A.R., will be coming out. Originally, I had been told the novel would be coming out in all formats on January 8, but that didn't happen. I am guessing it had to do with the audiobook. Having produced a few audiobooks, I can tell you, it's always the audiobook. I have been told that the new target date is Friday, February 23, 2018. That is the day a new definition of terror

    Read an excerpt: The Well

My horror novella The Well comes out this Black Friday - right after Thanksgiving. As you contemplate heading out to fight the crowds while holiday shopping or prepare yourself for the cyber-attacks of Cyber Monday, you can scare yourself with this weird supernatural tale of horror I concocted while writing my short fiction this year. The Well tells the story of a man and woman who buy a new house. Right away, the wife, Karen, seems a bit off. Obsessed with checking out the y
